Pre-Reading

Pre-Reading as a Teaching Strategy

Pre-reading, also referred to as “quick-reading,” is a strategy that helps to improve students’ comprehension of content-based expository texts. Before reading the text, students first spend some time looking at the headings, images and captions, thinking about what they already know about the subject, and performing some exercises that begin to engage them.
