Essay Assignment: “Discrimination”

RULE #1: KEEP IT SIMPLE; AVOID BEING TOO VERBOSE

In a 1–2 page essay, think about a time when you felt discriminated against. Use a metaphor to explain your relationship to the person(s) discriminating against you and incorporate this into your paper. Then compare your experience to X's experience being discriminated against in the movie, "X."

Be sure to connect the two experiences by reflecting on the character in the movie. Finally, conclude your essay by reminding your reader of your central idea. Bring your reader back to the beginning.

Revision

In a 1–2 page essay, describe a time when you were discriminated against and compare your experience to X's experience in the movie.

Your essay should include the following:

• A clear introduction that tells the two experiences being compared
• Clearly supported body paragraphs that focus on one characteristic each.
• Specific examples that show how the two experiences are similar
• A conclusion that summarizes the similarities between the two experiences.
